TITLE: Bus Driver/Facility Worker
CLASSIFICATION: Classified - Hourly
REPORTS TO: Maintenance & Site Construction Manager and School Principal
SUMMARY: The Bus Driver//Facility Worker will maintain school buildings and grounds to provide a safe, comfortable and clean working environment at the school site.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Open and disarm the campus and inspect for safety and any damages.
- Secure campus areas and set alarms.
- Manage the cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
- Order maintenance supplies.
- Notify the School Principal and coordinate services from the Maintenance Department for major repair projects.
- Assist in cleaning district office and school buildings.
- Clean-up after accidents and spills, cleaning and/or removing marks or writing on walls and doors, changing filters, dusting vents and cleaning eaves, beams and fixtures.
- Complete minor repairs including replacing light bulbs, repairing hinges and knobs, unplugging toilets and drains, replacing parts, fuses, switches and other general repairs.
- Inspect fire extinguishers and request necessary service.
- Make recommendations to the School Principal and Maintenance & Site Construction Manager for special cleaning and maintenance to occur over the summer.
- Participate in the summer cleaning procedure in classrooms, offices and school buildings.
- Clean and maintain floors, fixtures, white boards and furniture.
- Clean restrooms, replenish supplies.
- Clean and sweep sidewalks, pick-up and dispose of trash in parking lots and on school grounds, wash windows and remove cobwebs.
- Assist with arranging furniture and equipment.
- Assist with general maintenance.
- Clean cafeteria and dispose of rubbish.
- Assist with summer cleaning including scrubbing and resurfacing floors, stripping and waxing floors, washing walls, fixtures, and furniture and painting interior.
- Attend in-service training for continued professional development.
- Perform any and all job related duties assigned by the School Principal or Maintenance & Site Construction Manager.
- Obey all traffic laws, Arizona Department of Transportation rules, and Riverside School District Policies and Procedures and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses and Head Start performance standards for transportation.
- Transport only authorized students on assigned routes, to and from school, and/or on field trips, or to and from special events and follow Arizona Department of Childcare Licensing transportation requirements.
- Comply with mandatory safety regulations by inspecting the bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notifying the proper authority of any mechanical failure. Note all discrepancies and/or malfunctions using the Vehicle Check List and Maintenance Log at the conclusion of each day.
- Ensure bus cleanliness both inside and outside by following Riverside School District procedures. Check the bus after each run for lost items and/or damage.
- Maintain discipline and supervision while transporting only authorized students, report undisciplined students to the proper authority and discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Inform students about safety requirements.
- Report verbally all accidents immediately and follow-up with a written report within 24 hours.
- Attend in-service training for continued professional development.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- A valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- CDL - will pay/train
- Motor Vehicle Division Driving Record in good standing for the last 39 months retroactive from date of hire with the District
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous custodial or building maintenance experience.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and plumbing and general carpentry and maintenance skills.
- Strong collaborative interpersonal skills.
- Ability to bend, carry and lift 50 pounds, push and pull 50 pounds; climb ladders.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Knowledge of English required to read and interpret schedules, memos, instructions on tools and equipment and to communicate with co-workers.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ability to make decisions in a variety of situations regarding priorities and effectively handling emergencies.
- Familiarity and compliance with safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with administrator’s staff and students.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The work environment is the normal school setting; the noise level ranges from quiet to loud, but is usually moderate. The work environment includes exposure to dirt and dust and noise and vibration from maintenance equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Twelve-month, At-Will, Hourly; employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

- Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
