Description | TITLE: Manager of Maintenance & Site Construction
CLASSIFICATION: Professional - Exempt
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Custodians/Facility Workers, General Maintenance/Facility Workers, Bus Aides, Certified Bus Drivers, Licensed Drivers and Facilities Supervisors
SUMMARY: To provide all students and staff with a physical learning environment which is safe, clean and of high quality provides students of the District with appropriate and efficient maintenance; provides technical expertise, oversight, and planning supervision to new school construction and renovation projects.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as Construction Project Manager for the district.
- Plans, supervises and ensures that all improvement and renovation work are performed at high quality.
- Represents district during construction meetings with architect and/or contractor in all new and on-going construction projects.
- Responsible for monitoring and compiling all information needed for School Facilities Board (SFB) Reports.
- Responsible for all facilities use scheduling and billing.
- Monitors and keeps accurate computer records for all keys issued.
- Oversees the operation of playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities.
- Reviews on a regular basis all security precautions and procedures and recommends additions, changes, or reductions in service as appropriate.
- Recommends and administers budget for maintenance, grounds, custodial supplies, equipment, construction/remodeling projects, transportation and personnel.
- Coordinates with the Associate Superintendent and the Superintendent the development and implementation of a long-range facility plan.
- Develops and implements a yearly Operations Improvement Plan aligned to Governing Board goals.
- Assists in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion or dismissal of personnel under his/her supervision.
- Evaluates staff on a regular basis and makes recommendations for staff development and improvement.
- Attend trainings to continue professional development.
- Perform any and all job related duties assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management or equivalent experience in related field preferred.
LICENCES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- A valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years of school-related maintenance, construction and facilities management as well as supervisory or administrative experience
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to administer and supervise a maintenance operation within a school district.
- Ability to work with directors and supervisors to develop and implement a comprehensive management team approach.
- Demonstrated ability to make good decisions.
- Ability to maintain a safe work environment for self and others.
- Proficiency in English and general communication skills (oral and written) for providing work directions, and interacting with staff, students and administration.
- Skilled in maintenance, HAZMAT, asbestos removal, safety and site inspection.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and high level of oral and written communication skills to provide direction and effectively interact with staff and administrators.
- Ability to bend, climb, kneel, lift and carry 60 pounds and push and pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to work with equipment, materials, and processes that maintain the safety of the work environment.
WORK CONDITIONS:
- The working environment includes exposure to dust, dirt, seasonal high temperatures, fumes and odors from cleaning chemicals and noise and vibration from machinery.

TITLE: Transportation Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Professional - Exempt
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Dispatcher, Bus Drivers and Bus Aides, Custodians
SUMMARY: The Transportation Manager will facilitate an orderly, efficient and safe operation of the Transportation Department and oversee all vehicles, bus barn, and district equipment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the operation of the Transportation Department in accordance with District policy, the Arizona Department of Education, Department of Public Safety and the Uniform System of Financial Records.
- Supervision and recording of route mileage, student load and cost per mile for operation of buses and vehicles per Auditor General Requirements.
- Complete school bus driver training, including knowledge of state rules and regulations, district policies and rules, a state mandated road test, classroom and refresher training and first aid and CPR classes.
- Train new drivers for CDL and School Bus Driver Certification.
- Plan and revise bus routes, schedules and field trips.
- Adjust time schedules as assigned maintaining pick-up and delivery schedules.
- Call and schedule substitute bus drivers.
- Receive and respond to complaints from parents, teachers and administration.
- Dispatch buses per route assignment.
- Notify appropriate school officials immediately of lost children or passengers.
- Complete all required forms including but not limited to pre-trip inspections, maintenance requests, field trip forms, mileage logs, student count and discipline citations in a timely manner.
- Maintain good relations with parents, teachers and schools.
- Attend trainings for continued professional development.
- Perform any and all job related duties assigned by supervisor.
LICENCES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Motor Vehicle Division Driving Record in good standing for the last 39 months retroactive from date of hire with the District.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License
- Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate with CDL Class B, including passenger and student endorsements
- First Aid and CPR Certifications
- A valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years’ experience in supervisory of school transportation to include planning and scheduling routes.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
- Leadership skills are required to provide work direction and handling difficult situations with parents and caregivers.
- Ability to communicate in a concise manner and ability to make a variety of transportation decisions.
- Computer skills to schedule routes, configure mileage reports and to email.
- Knowledge of transportation standards and applicable policy and regulations.
- Familiarity and compliance with safety procedures.
- English proficiency is required to be able to communicate effectively with parents, co-workers and administrators. Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.
- Must be physically able to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, lift 60 pounds, and reach to load and unload disabled students and/or move students for safety in emergency situations.
WORK CONDITIONS:
- The working conditions include an office setting and a school bus operating in all weather extremes and includes exposure to vehicular traffic, bus fumes and odors, bus noise and vibration
