CLASSIFICATION: Classified - Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager of Maintenance & Site Construction

SUMMARY: The Facilities Supervisor will maintain buildings and grounds to provide a safe, comfortable and clean working and learning environment at the school site.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the custodial staff including participating in recommending potential employees, training staff on cleaning procedures and techniques, scheduling work assignments, inspecting facilities and grounds to ensure the campus meets standards and participating in the evaluation of work performance of custodial staff.
  • Open and disarm the campus and inspect for safety and any damages.
  • Secure campus areas and set alarms.
  • Manage the cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Order maintenance supplies.
  • Notify the School Principal and coordinate services from the Maintenance Department for major repair projects.
  • Assist in cleaning district office and school buildings.
  • Clean up after accidents and spills, cleaning and/or removing marks or writing on walls and doors, changing filters, dusting vents and cleaning eaves, beams and fixtures.
  • Complete minor repairs including replacing light bulbs, repairing hinges and knobs, unplugging toilets and drains, replacing parts, fuses, switches and other general repairs.
  • Responsible for the completion of the quarterly/semi-annual/annual School Facility Board (SFB) preventive maintenance reports.
  • Responsible for answering assigned work phone for after-hour emergencies, monitoring fire and burglary companies and securing the school site.
  • Complete monthly School Grounds/Safety Walk-through reports and submit via email to the School Principal. Send communication (via cc) to the Maintenance Supervisor and the Associate Superintendent.
  • Assist with the organization of bus transportation schedules to include: regular education, special needs, out-source special needs, homeless, after school sports and summer school programs.
  • Evaluate all weekly driver mileage reports before submitting them to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist with Professional Development Trainings/Classes.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers and request necessary service.
  • Make recommendations to the School Principal and Manager of Maintenance & Site Construction for special cleaning and maintenance to occur over the summer.
  • Participate in the summer cleaning procedure in classrooms, offices and school buildings.
  • Clean and maintain floors, fixtures, white boards and furniture.
  • Clean restrooms, replenish supplies.
  • Clean and sweep sidewalks, pick up and dispose of trash in parking lots and on school grounds, wash windows and remove cobwebs.
  • Assist with arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Assist with general maintenance.
  • Clean cafeteria and dispose of rubbish.
  • Assist with summer cleaning including scrubbing and resurfacing floors, stripping and waxing floors, washing walls, fixtures and furniture and painting interior.
  • Attend in-service training for continued professional development.
  • Perform any and all job related duties assigned by the School Principal and Manager of Maintenance & Site Construction.

 

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and plumbing and general carpentry and maintenance skills
  • Fingerprint clearance
  • Negative TB clearance within last 12 months
  • Current immunizations
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • A valid Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous custodial or building maintenance experience

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and plumbing and general carpentry and maintenance skills.
  • Strong collaborative interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to bend, carry and lift 50 pounds, push and pull 50 pounds; climb ladders.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of English required to read and interpret schedules, memos, instructions on tools and equipment and to communicate with co-workers.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variety of situations regarding priorities and effectively handling emergencies.
  • Familiarity and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, staff and students.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The work environment is the normal school setting; the noise level ranges from quiet to loud, but is usually moderate. The work environment includes exposure to dirt and dust and noise and vibration from maintenance equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Twelve-month, At-Will, Exempt; employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

EVALUATION:

  • Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified exempt staff.
