Maricopa Institute of Technology:  9th – 11th Grade English Teacher (Part Time)

 

Maricopa Institute of Technology STEM High School (MIT) will serve students in grades 9-12 in the urban, industrialized, and commercial area of Phoenix, Arizona, within the boundaries of Riverside Elementary School District No.2 at 3900 South 55th Avenue.    MIT is dedicated to preparing future leaders in STEM and focusing on scholarship that positively impact local, national, and global communities.  MIT will provide a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Program to students within a state-of-the-art research facility designed to prepare our students for collegiate success and successful STEM careers.

 

We welcome individuals who accept the challenge of building their future in a STEM educational program within an innovative research facility. 

 

The successful candidates will build a program of research and scholarships in engineering, and will have opportunities to collaborate with other faculty to develop the STEM program.  Major responsibilities include: (1) implementation of an Engineering Instructional Program, (2) collaboration and support in the development, delivery, implementation of engineering practices, and monitoring of STEM curriculum, initiatives, events, and projects, (3) seek to acquire external funding, (4) establish and maintain a record of scholarly productivity as demonstrated through lesson planning and student assessment data, and (5) provide service to the school and community. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Hold at least one engineering degree
  • Level One Fingerprint clearance
  • Appropriately Certified/Highly Qualified (HQ) in 3D CAD modeling-SolidWorks
  • Full SEI Endorsement, Full ESL, and/or Full Bilingual Endorsement is required.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in technology education or a related field
  • Demonstrated success or potential for success in obtaining external funds
  • Potential to assume a leadership role in design and optimization of the development of an Engineering Education Systems and Design Program
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse learners and in adapting instruction for students with special needs
  • Commitment to a collaborative and transdisciplinary approach to teaching and research
